Small Business Saturday: My Picks!

It’s Small Business Saturday! I am pumped to be sharing my finds, both local and beyond, from businesses I love to personally support and wanted to share with you! It’s been such a tough year for small businesses, so the least we can do is forget about Amazon for a little and support the actual humans behind these great businesses! While this isn’t the prettiest collage I’ve ever made, I really am pumped about everything I am sharing. I numbered them for easy reference and there’s a link for each one!

  1. Hart Studio: unsurprisingly, a lot of the businesses I included are based in Charleston, mostly because there are a TON of amazing female entrepreneurs down there, and also because there are so many incredible creative businesses that just appeal to me. I asked for this charm necklace for Christmas and I’m obsessed with the options.
  2. Pitt Street Kids: I talk about this business a ton on my Instagram and I love shopping here for my kids and for amazing gifts. Check out their stocking stuffers – so many great brands and adorable clothes.
  3. Rey to Z: the owner was a coworker at Mac & Mia with me and these hats make the best gifts! Perfect for stocking stuffers and I actually just grabbed one for Goldie to use as nursery decor until it fits her noggin! 20% using the code GRATEFUL.
  4. State of Play: both owners also Mac & Mia coworkers! These adorable sweatshirts are super comfy and fun. I love the “burbs” line too!
  5. Calamityware: I originally found this brand through Ina Garten’s Instagram but came to find they of course have a Pittsburgh connection (of course!). I have this platter and it’s one of my absolute faves.
  6. The Bateswood Company: a friend sent along this brand and it looks like you can request custom wall hangings! So fun and unique, especially for a nursery or office.
  7. Good Scout Kids: saw this on Instagram and I think all three Knorr kids are getting one for Christmas.
  8. Weleful Toys: another business born from Mac & Mia, these fun toys are open-ended and great for your kiddo.
  9. Vibe Salon: I get my hair done here and they have incredible product options. Great chance for Pittsburghers to buy a gift card and treat yourself to the services the talented ladies here can provide!
  10. Oh Joyful Day: I’ve long drooled over her custom wedding stationery (as a former stationer myself, it’s just beautiful work), but I’m especially loving her Christmas offerings.
  11. Paprika Paperie: custom kids’ stationery is something a few people requested when I asked for suggestions, and I just love the bright colors this Etsy seller uses!
  12. Mediterra Cafe: recently opened in Mt. Lebanon and has been open for some time now in Sewickley. They have the cutest little market with gift options and the best food ever. The owner is a friend and I just had to include them here!
  13. Drybar Pittsburgh: we are so lucky to have a Drybar franchise right here in the South Hills. Book yourself a blowout for the holidays and get some of their amazing dry shampoo too!
  14. Pure Barre Mt. Lebanon: of course I’m biased, but I find the most amazing athleisure items here and it’s a great chance to try a class too.
  15. Mecka Fitness: my other place of work! Lots of great retail and many different class offerings between yoga, treadmill classes, bootcamp and strength! Opening in the Strip District soon!
  16. Commonwealth Press: with a Mt. Lebanon storefront, they’ve taken all of their sales online for the time being. Support this local shop and find Goldie’s famous Iron City Baby onesie, it’s my go-to baby gift.
  17. Shop Steel City: another Pittsburgh shirt company, theirs are some of the softest around! Love their kids’ offerings as well.
  18. Starry Blues: a friend’s business! Check out their online store for a ton of great gift options this holiday season! Obsessed with this cute little gift box.
  19. Studio Betsy: another Charleston-based business, I scooped her Leon’s Oyster Shop print a few months ago (one of our favorite Charleston restaurants!) and I just grabbed this Golden Goose print for Georgia’s room. The perfect gift for anyone Golden Goose-obsessed and a fun pop of color. Check out her nudes too, they’re great for a bathroom.
  20. Support your favorite photographer. Buy prints through your photographer! It may be cheaper to buy through Snapfish, but the quality isn’t as great to the print shops your photographer has access to, plus they make a commission. We love our yearly mini shoots with Rachel Rowland, and we also love Ben Petchel and Hot Metal Studio, if you’re looking for a photographer.
  21. Had to plug my Beautycounter business. It always feels like a stretch to call it “my business” but it really is a little online franchise. It helps support my family and allows me to keep putting out fun content, so let’s keep this train rolling!
Did I forget anyone? Is there anywhere I need to shop?! Let me know, and enjoy supporting your favorite small businesses this Saturday and beyond.
