Bodie’s Big Boy Room Plus a Halloween Freebie

After tons of time, I’m finally ready to share Bodie’s big boy room. Nothing like an impending baby birth to get you to finish a few things on your home to-do list, Bodie’s room being one of them! My overall goal was a fun, modern boy’s room that wasn’t too obvious. There’s nothing wrong with an animal or sports-themed room, of course, but I wanted to do something a little more modern and fun while incorporating pieces I loved from his former nursery. Of course, all on a budget.

We made the choice to put Bodie in Georgia’s full size bed, and felt like her Jenny Lind headboard was gender neutral enough to stick with. I found an amazing Crate & Kids duvet set that felt perfect for the modern vibe I was going for – unfortunately, it’s since sold out but I linked up a few other adorable options that have the same feel. We included throw pillows and stuffed animals from his nursery. I added the “Good Vibes Only” banner that really suits his spirit. The dots come from Urban Walls – they’re the irregular dot. I applied all of these by hand and I’m telling you, it was so fun and relaxing to do! They come up really easily too and don’t destroy the wall behind it, great for rentals.

Bodie wears lots of hats, so I knew I wanted a way to display his hats on the wall. I found these great pegs on Amazon that would work well for women’s hats too. I like to use the bottom peg to pull out his clothes for the next day, that helps the next morning flow a little better before school. I wanted to display a State of Play sweatshirt on there for the photos, but low and behold, it was in the wash!! This is Bodie’s favorite sweatshirt, but I have my eye on this one too!
Bodie’s always been so into reading. It was important to have an easy way to display his books in a way he could reach most of them and they really add so much color to the room! I found the extra long bookshelves at Ikea on the cheap, and we were sure to install them into studs so that if he feels like climbing to get to the top shelf, it should withstand his weight. The teepee was a gift for Georgia’s first birthday from a small shop that unfortunately no longer exists. It’s one of my favorite things and I’m so glad we were able to keep it alive in Bodie’s room.
His lamp, side table, anywhere chair and his dresser are all from his nursery at the old house. I always joke and say that no dresser will ever live up to the Ikea Hemnes Dresser. I’d rather keep purchasing these and change out the knobs than spend more money on something that I don’t love like this! It’s the perfect size for children’s clothing and beyond.

The mirror was a Hobby Lobby find but I’ve linked one that’s less expensive and more accessible from Amazon. The only thing that’s missing from these photos is the ceiling fan! We had it delivered and hoped we’d be able to install it ourselves (my husband Jeff does great with electricity typically!), but opted out due to just how difficult it would be to hold it over our heads that long! Best to leave it to the professionals and I hope to have it installed in a few weeks!
I also wanted to include a little freebie for those reading! You might have noticed the Amok Amok Amok signage. I made it myself thinking it’s perfect for a little boy’s room, but it’s also great for Halloween! You can download the 11×17 print right here if you want to add to your Halloween decor, it is after all a line from Hocus Pocus! It’s super easy to send to print at FedEx and frame on your own!
Everything from the room is linked up below (either actual product or a similar find!). I can’t wait to hear what you think!
