Beautycounter Summer Friends & Family Sale

Today is the last day for Beautycounter's Friends and Family Sale, meaning the last day for 15% off or more! I've talked before about how much I've enjoyed working with Beautycounter, and it really does continue. It's such a natural extension of how and what I share, plus - it literally paid for the play set in our back yard, so when I see the kids playing out there, it feels great! So while it's the perfect time to purchase refills or try something new, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite Beautycounter Summer items!

One-Step Makeup Remover Wipes - these were out of stock FOREVER as Beautycounter worked to find a new supplier. Being picky with suppliers means your product is especially great! These are perfect after a workout, or I love to use them if we're finished swimming and heading to dinner, just to get all of the sunblock and chlorine off! Also ideal for travel, of course!

Countercontrol Clear Pore Cleanser - while I am forever loyal to Countertime and the Cleansing Balm, I love the Countercontrol Clear Pore Cleanser for post-workout face cleansing. There are jojoba beads in the cleanser to gently exfoliate your skin and get rid of any dead skin. I also love to use this the morning after using my Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel, and follow it up with my morning routine - including the Counter+ All Bright C Serum. Note that a little goes a long way with the C Serum, but I absolutely love the bright, clean look it gives my complexion, particularly when paired with the Overnight Peel - those two are amazing together. If I can have a nice complexion while pregnant with my third child, Beautycounter is doing something right!

I just purchased the Counterman Energizing Charcoal Body Wash and I've heard amazing things about it! Not just for men of course, this is supposed to be a dream after a day in the sun or a tough workout! I can't wait to try it!

Lastly, we've been LOVING all of the Countersun products. The Countersun Daily Sheer Defense for Face has been a dream. It's perfect to put on AFTER your moisturizer but under your makeup. I put it on every morning to protect from the sun (and hopefully wrinkles too!). The Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Mist is ideal for busy kiddos like Bodie. I can spray this on him and not worry about sunburn or nasty chemicals found in typical SPF sprays. Lastly, we loaded up on sunscreen for our trip to the beach, and the Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion really does blend in quickly. Want a fun trick for getting it on kids' faces? Use a BeautyBlender! I keep mine in a little bag in our pool bag.

All in all, I hope this helps! If you ever have any questions about Beautycounter products or how to best use them, you can let me know. It's a great time to use your product credit for additional savings, too! You can always shop my products through www.beautycounter.com/mollyknorr. I also link to it at the top of my blog!

I'm also hosting a giveaway on my Instagram for a Charcoal Face Mask (worth $49!), so check it out if you'd like, the giveaway ends today at noon!

Aerie Summer Roundup

A friend of mine was leaving for vacation and reminded me that Aerie always has the coziest, most awesome summer attire. I ventured into the store on Friday and walked out with a great birthday gift for my sister and scooped myself an amazing crochet coverup midi dress. Unfortunately the midi dress wasn't available online yet, but a lot of goodies are! I linked up my favorites below.

Pretty sure these CROCHET SHORTS are a mom's best friend at the pool. Toss on over your bathing suit and chase your kids as you see fit. The TIERED TANK would look adorable on top!

I am trying to decide why everyone doesn't try BIKE SHORTS because they're so comfortable, high waisted, and basically do what you love about leggings, right? Wear with an oversized CAMO TEE or the CROPPED SWEATSHIRT.

No need to describe my love for the TIE DYE MIDI COVERUP.

The SMOCKED SHORTS are something I think I can wear this summer, so I'll be purchasing these later today for sure. Love the matching sets Aerie has, too!

I haven't tried the bathing suits at Aerie but I've heard great things. What do you love from there? They do summer casual SO well!

Backyard Plans & A Great Play Set

We are finally wrapping up our backyard landscaping project and we are so happy with how it turned out! Jeff and his dad worked so hard on this and I wanted to be sure to include all of our vendors and how we got it done. Creating a "wall of trees" has been something we wanted to do since we moved in. I grew up with woods behind my house and while there are a lot of opinions about retention ponds, I genuinely don't mind ours. It's great to have the view of the trees and there are bullfrogs & ducks that Bodie loves to see swimming - in this instance, it was the right decision for us when it came time to choose the lot for our house, so long as we did the landscaping correctly! The goal was to create a barrier to keep the kids away from the hill, to house the playset, and to hang on to as much usable yard space as possible as the kids grow older. Jeff's dad went to school for landscape architecture, so while he doesn't do it for a living, he's professionally trained and has spent a lot of time perfecting their back yard. Without his advice we likely would have made countless mistakes doing it ourselves and we are so grateful for his assistance.

As you can see, he put together a really solid, intricate plan for us and actually measured everything out very precisely. This made the actual labor a little less strenuous. Jeff dug everything on his own and has really been pulling double duty to get this done! We procured all of our mulch and the wood chips for the play set area from Venetia Landscape Supply, which is owned by a friend of ours and comes highly recommended if you're in the Pittsburgh area.

Onto the play set, I did a lot of research but admittedly, I think given COVID and everyone realizing they'll be spending a lot of time at home, had limited options for our play set. I found Cedarworks play sets from another blogger and was blown away by their options. Are these not the cutest play sets you've ever seen? They're made from a cedar, so no splinters, no painting or chemicals needed to seal, and of course I loved the lighter color scheme. We built the area around it so it's more enclosed and included in our landscaping - entirely Jeff's dad's idea, we had plans to put it to the right of our stairs from the deck, which in hindsight, makes absolutely no sense. The kids are really loving the picnic table underneath the landing, we've been taking their lunches outside and getting some playtime in.

I should note that I actually chose the least expensive, least intricate of the play sets - this option had literally everything we wanted - the Play-A-Round! You do have the option to fully customize and I looked into getting one of the cool, wider slides that are that great light blue color, but at the end of the day opted for ours! I'm sure the kids would have loved the castles and bridges of course, maybe some day! Jeff opted to build it himself though there were installation options locally (they are headquartered in Maine and ship directly from there via freight) - he wanted to do this for his kids so I totally get it, it came together really easily, with great instructions and only a few of hours of work! My nephew called it the "sturdiest play set on the street" so we are proud of that important seal of approval. I worked with Matt Kincaid there and he was so responsive and kind, I can't say enough good things about this business - if you reach out, please let them know that I sent you!

In terms of next steps, we'd love to add concrete outside of the basement door and over to the stairs of the deck that matches the flow of the mulch bed. It's so nice to see the outside of the house really come together after about two years here! It was absolutely a lot of time and effort but totally worth it! We can't thank my in-laws, Cedarworks, or Venetia Landscape Supply enough for their efforts on this project.

Goldie's Nursery Plans

Hi! Excited to finally share this. As I head towards my third trimester (holy crap), things are starting to get a little bit more urgent. I haven't made a single purchase for this child and she'll be here before we know it. We have decided to name her Goldie Rosalyn. Goldie because we love that name - it's light and bright and happy! It was on our list for Bodie, and while we had another girl name picked out for Bodie, it doesn't feel like the right fit anymore- anyone else feel that way between kids? And Rosalyn was my grandmother's name. I also liked the idea of this baby having a name starting with a G, like Georgia.

We are doing a good amount of bouncing around between the guest room and Georgia and Bodie's room to make this work. Obviously it would be best to keep a guest room and have the kids share, but I don't feel like we are in a position to make that happen at this time, given we haven't moved Bodie to a big bed, but that's coming too! It's definitely the smallest of the rooms but still has the connected Jack & Jill bathroom to Bodie's, lots of natural light, and a nice-sized closet, so we're happy with it. Given how often I like to change things up, I'm of course trying to do this on a smaller budget, keeping costs and efforts down. With your first child, you don't really know what you need - but you're willing to spend a lot ensuring you had the best, and with this kid I just want a room that will make me happy and suit her needs. I plan to go as brightly boho as possible for this girl! I love a muted boho, but I'm bright at heart, and I want her room to reflect that.

That said, back when we had Georgia, we invested in a POTTERY BARN KIDS GLIDER and it has seen better days between Georgia's nursery, a move, and Bodie's nursery, but it still works! I plan to TOSS THIS FAUX FUR on top and it will be perfectly boho. Of course I'd love to wallpaper the whole room, but budget strikes again! We'll do one big wall and it will hopefully look great! What's super fun about ordering WALLPAPER FROM SPOONFLOWER is they have a matching pair of curtains we can buy to incorporate the tie dye pattern on the perpendicular wall! I'll be adding lots of pillows and macrame & rattan touches to really achieve that layered, boho look I love.

To walk you through my choices, I started with the wallpaper from Spoonflower. I searched high and low for a pink option, but they were all SO close to Georgia's amazing wallpaper which I just love, but I can't design the same room twice no matter how much I love it! In an effort to make this a bit different, I went for the teal/aqua color in a great tie dye. I FOUND THIS RUG AT URBAN OUTFITTERS. I've seen other bloggers use it and I just love the vintage feel. We'll have lots of storage bins, LIKE THESE. I mentioned we already HAD THE GLIDER, it's served us well! I plan to add lots of great pillows, like THIS PATTERNED OPTION, THIS RAINBOW, and THIS BOHO ONEI LOVE THIS SIDE TABLE for next to the rocker, but may opt for something with a larger diameter on the top, LIKE THIS ONE. We all know how crowded a side table can get in a nursery in the middle of the night. As for the crib, you want to know what's changed in the six years since I was preparing for Georgia? The cost of cribs! OMG you can get a great crib for less than $200? How?  This JENNY LIND OPTION is pretty traditional, but I just love it. Adding the AWESOME PENDANT LIGHT on top to add back in the boho feels. For the dresser, I knew I wanted something with gold in it but I'm not sure this is the answer - I may go more modern, but you can never go wrong with a CAMPAIGN DRESSER, IN MY BOOK. We'll add this awesome MACRAME MIRROR on top to complete the look!

Here was my initial inspiration for anyone wondering, ALL LINKED ON MY PINTEREST minus the first pic, which is from Chelsea Meissner's Instagram just the other day!:

All in all, these are my plans. I need to start executing! I can't wait to share the final product and we'll see where I stray from my plans, sharing the before and after. Everything is also linked up on my liketoknow.it for simple shopping. What do you think?
